What are the contraindications of Berocca®?
Contraindications of Berocca®:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the active substances or to any of the excipients
- Severe renal insufficiency (GFR < 30ml/min) including individuals on dialysis
- Nephrolithiasis or history of nephrolithiasis
- Hyperoxaluria
- Hypercalcaemia
- Severe hypercalciuria
What if consumers take Berocca® more than 1 tablet a day? Will it be overdose and have the negative impact to them?
Consumers are advised to only take one tablet daily. At one tablet daily, all the respective micronutrients present in Berocca are below the ‘Upper Safety Levels’. Therefore, when used as per label, there is no evidence that this product will lead to an overdose.
Can Berocca® be consumed during pregnancy and lactation?
Berocca® is generally considered safe during pregnancy or lactation when taken as labeled. However, since there are no sufficient controlled human studies assessing the risk of product treatment during pregnancy or lactation, and the product is not formulated as a pregnancy supplement
Can Berocca® be consumed by patients with renal failure? Does Berocca® increase the risk of kidney stones when used over a period of time?
Berocca® is contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure or insufficient renal function patients.
Can Berocca® be consumed by patients with diabetes or cardiovascular disease?
Berocca® is sweetened with aspartame and is suitable for diabetes.
Berocca® plus contains Guarana (source of caffeine), hence it should not be used for cardiovascular patients (particularly hypertension, arrythmia), unless advised upon by a doctor.Both Berocca® and Berocca® Boost contain 0.27 grams of sodium. This amount of sodium is well below the IOM UL and WHO maximum daily intake recommendation and would not contribute to daily sodium intake significantly. Nonetheless, individuals on a controlled sodium diet should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking Berocca®.
Can I take Berocca when taking other multivitamins?
Berocca® contains a unique combination of B vitamins, vitamin C and essential minerals like calcium, magnesium and zinc. As such, the content may overlap with other multivitamins. We recommend you speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Berocca® with other multivitamins
Can we consume Berocca® on an empty stomach?
There are no food requirements when taking Berocca®. However, individuals with a sensitive stomach may consider taking Berocca® post meals.
Why is our urine more yellowish after consuming Berocca®?
The yellow discoloration of the urine after taking Berocca® is due to the presence of vitamin B2 (riboflavin) in the formulation. Like all other B vitamins, riboflavin is water soluble and any excess will be passed out in the urine. Riboflavin is required by our body to release energy. It also supports blood cells production and enables the body to use oxygen.
